The backlit LCD reads in low light, which is when most good fish arrive. It weighs to 10 g and up to 50 kg, so it covers everything from a decent perch to a fish you will be talking about for years. Between trips it does luggage at the airport and feed sacks in the shed, which is why it never quite leaves the car.

Why we carry it

Catch and release only works if the fish goes back quickly, and a fast, accurate weight is part of that. This one is small enough to live in a chest pack, tough enough to live in a boot, and small enough that carrying one is never a decision.
