Wool felt brake pads give drag pressure that comes on smoothly rather than in steps, which is what stops a hook pulling at the start of a run. The alarm on the spool beeps as line goes out — useful when the rod is in a rest and you are not looking at it. Six sizes from SM2000 to SM7000 mean the same reel design covers light lure work through to serious ground.
