On the water
Cast it, let it drop, and start the retrieve at the depth you want. Counting the sink is what turns this into a search tool: three seconds on one cast, seven on the next, until you find the layer holding fish. Eight segments keep the body working through the retrieve at any of those depths, and ten colours cover clear water through to stained.
