Baitcasting Reel
A baitcaster rewards a thumb that knows what it is doing and punishes one that does not. What makes the difference is the braking — a spool that slows itself at the end of a cast instead of overrunning into a nest on the deck.
Details
On the water
Seven stainless ball bearings and a roller bearing carry the spool, and a power disc brake system takes the speed off the end of the cast. Brass gears do the work under load. The graphite body and side cover keep the whole thing light enough to palm for a full day of lure fishing.
What it does
Power disc brake system
Disc braking manages spool speed through the cast, which is where distance is either gained or lost to a backlash.
7 + 1 bearings
Seven stainless steel ball bearings and one roller bearing supporting the spool and the retrieve.
Machined anodised aluminium spools
Twin aluminium spools, machined and anodised, keeping strength in the part of the reel that spins hardest.
Brass gears
A brass gear train doing the load-bearing work inside a light body.
Graphite body and side cover
Light in the hand over a day of repeat casting.
Why we carry it
This is a reel for someone moving from spinning to baitcasting, or for someone who wants a second casting reel without spending like it is their only one. The bearing count and the brake system are what you would look for; the graphite body is what keeps it comfortable.
